It is nice to read about you all. I Graduated from College of Charleston with a BA in Biology in '99. I have put that Bio degree to good use by going into technology sales for IBM in 2000. I have been working for IBM ever since. I am currently trying to finish up my MBA.

I am fortunate to be married to Susie Martin Kaminski of Darien Connecticut. We met through IBM. We have two children (Rebecca and Trey), two cats (Buzz and Stormy) and a mini van...I have realized the suburban dream!

Life is good, I hope to hear from some of you!

This note is an attempt to catch up with some of you whom I spent some of the most arduous and rewarding years of my life. Those of you that remember me please feel free to send an email (rdsenator at gmail dot com).

College years: spent in Canada, Europe and Hawai'i; finally ended up with a BA in Biblical Studies which I conclude has not served my vocational endeavors as much as it has elucidated the common thread from which I find my way.

Marriage: married the sensational Jennifer Lockman on April 1, 2000.

Career: after college I began an IT career that has broadened, funneled depending on your perspective, into project management which includes, but is not limited to, technology.

Interests: philosophy (ethics and mind), technology (globalizaton and convergence), music (opera and stuff that is sure to be on the unpassed list), travel (cultural education is the only scratch to the travel itch), running (used to do Ironman races but now just staying fit), hieroglyphics (again, I am kidding).

Rachel (Pols) Vander Wall, Class of 1995, <>
Lowell, Indiana, USA

I suppose the fact that I'm approaching 30 (gulp!) has made me a little sentimental/curious about everyone from high school. Just wondering what everyone is doing etc.

After graduating I attended USC and Cornerstone University (in Michigan) for about 2 1/2 years. I planned to teach English (inspired by the beloved and sadly missed Mrs Key). I worked a ton and didn't really enjoy the school thing so I decided to give up. Only I don't exactly see it as giving up because I wasn't satisfied. I see it more as giving in.

I then did what I had been interested in for a long time, but never encouraged to do by my parents - went to beauty school! About halfway through I discovered that severe eczema would keep me from doing hair for a living. I was determined to finished what I started though.

Right after that, in July of 2000 I married my wonderful husband, Pete. Life has been a whirlwind since then - Peter Ryan was born on December 7, 2001. Katherine Alaina was born on June 12, 2003. On August 31, 2005, we welcomed Madeline Olivia into our family. We are expecting number 4 in April 2007. So life is busy and chaotic and loud and messy - but wonderful.

I stay home with the kids and Pete works as an accountant. I also work from home as a consultant for Usborne Books (the perfect job for a stay at home mom). We are planning on homeschooling, so I will get to be a teacher after all! I am excited and a little overwhelmed, but Lord willing I will have the patience and wisdom for this to work.

I would love to hear from anyone! Especially if you're staying home and/or homeschooling!!!

Hello to the class of 1997. I just found out about this website and am thrilled at the idea of getting in touch with old classmates! If anyone would like to get in touch with me, please e-mail me at
After moving to Kansas City, Missouri the summer before my senior year, I began college at a small school in south Missouri. I met my husband in 1998, was married in 1999, and will finish school with a degree in Secondary English Education in the Fall of 2002. (You know...the 5 1/2 year plan.) Matt (my husband) and I just moved to Tampa, Fl, so I'm only 8 hours away from Columbia, rather than 20, which is a nice change! That's all my big news!
I'd love to hear from anyone, so please write!

I was married August 2000 and have the most precious 8 month old son "Hayden Scott". I am still living and working in Columbia. You know that you are getting old when you can't remember how long you have been out of high school--and the class of 93 is coming up on the big ten yrs! I am hoping to make that one. Finally finished up with school--and get this--earned my M.A. in counseling from CIU! Small world. Married, no kids, good job, family and friends. Has anybody heard from Yuri W., Seth Johnson, or Ngam? I would love the info. It really was great to read all the entries. It reminded me of those sweet BL days!

So many things have happened since my days at BL. Spence and I were married in August '98 and we moved around a lot with his jobs until finally settling right back here in '00. Our little girl, Marleigh Rae, was born in June of '00 and just had her first birthday last weekend. I am working at Wachovia Mortgage as a loan processor and Spence is finishing his degree in Sports Admin. at USC. Let us know of any reunions or chances of getting together more than just homecoming. Take care!!

Alicia Beatty, Class of 1991 <> or <>

Wow..... I can't believe that I stumbled across this wonderful website!

Anyway, here's the ten year update:
I graduated in 1995 from Trinity International University in Miami with a double major in Mass Communications, emphasis in Radio, and Business Administration. After graduation, I headed back to SC to get my Masters at CIU.. But that wasn't my bag. During college and grad school I worked at 88.1 Way FM in West Palm Beach and at WMHK 89.7 in Columbia.

After realizing that radio didn't make me happy I accepted a position with Time Warner Cable and soon after I was transferred to Birmingham, Alabama. Where I was the Project Administrator for the Birmingham upgrade.

Still not happy, I returned to South Florida and took a position with Living Color Enterprises. Living Color creates custom built aquariums, themed environments, and other high end nifty things. Should you go to Universal Theme Parks in Japan, the trees in the ET ride where made by Living Color.

When my boss left the company to return to the medical field she asked me to join her sooooooo..... the past few years I have been with an elite practice of Periodontal Surgeons as the Co-Manager of Information Systems and Technologies (specialty in software).

This year will prove to be an exciting one. It appears to be the year of travel. I have been invited to spend time with old friends in Australia and my former boyfriend and his family are hoping that I spend Christmas with them in England. And my church, Calvary Chapel, and I are discussing a short term trip to Austria. So we'll see.

All in all, life is getting better and more exciting.

I look forward to the 10 year reunion this fall!

Mark Palmer: Jules is still in SC. E-mail me and I'll give you her phone number.

Yes, it is I, Jonathan "Lomas" Lomas, the almost impeached Vice President of the Class of '97. I am currently really wishing that I could have made the senior store into more of a full time capitalist venture so that I could have funneled money into restoring the Scout. As it stands I am studying mechanical engineering at The University of South Carolina, and working at KryoTech, a small Columbia based business that builds the world's fastest PC's. As I am sure most BL grads would say, It prepared me well for where I am now and I wouldn't trade my time at BL for anything in the world...except maybe a new Scout...maybe an orange one...with those big tires...but I digress......Good luck to all, esp. the big old hairy class of 97!!

Matt Young, Class of 1990 <>

It was great to read updates form some of my old classmates and other BL friends. To briefly update you on my life, after graduating from BL in 1990 I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in political science in 1994. During my time there I was quite involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and met my wife Cindy. We were married in 1995 and Cindy completed her masters at CIU in 1996 (teaching English as a second language). While she worked on her masters I completed the prerequisites for medical school as well as helping out with the BL soccer team and the Long Creek Presbyterian youth group. In 1996 I began medical school at Chapel Hill and graduated this past May. We made the long move from Chapel Hill to Durham (8 miles) where I am training in urologic surgery at Duke.

I hope that I am able to make the 2000 reunion, but the outlook is dim at present. However, I would love to hear from some of my old classmates if any of you get the chance to write.

Thanks to Kate Bogue, I've found some of my long lost friends. This guestbook is a wonderful idea for a high school where so many kids come from all over the world.
I enjoyed catching glimpses of my fellow alumni's lives. I hope to see many of you (class of '91) at our ten year reunion.

I am currently working at the Missouri Baptist Children's Home. It is a residential facility for youth who can't be with their families for one reason or another.
Many of my girls are behavior problems. They should go to Ben Lippen. :) No, no, we weren't bad.

Thanks for your quick response.

So thrilled to have this opportunity to communicate with... well I guess its just Jolly 'cause she's the only one from our class listed and I haven't been able to shake her off since she first sat next to me on the Mall Bus my first weekend at BL.

My life has also crossed those of many of my other class mates. Since I was such a loser and couldn't get into Wheaton, I went to Gordon my first year and transferred to Wheaton the following year. Jolly and I were roommates one year there and then I lived with Youri Kim the next year (graduated 1 yr. early). I then bounded off to New York City to set the corporate world on fire. In New York, Jolly and Gemmie Dayit moved into my studio apartment for 6 months (with my 60 lb. redbone coon hound, Audrey). Gemmie moved out but Jolly hung on 'till I got married last year. During my first month in NYC, I was visited by Noriko Kitago, who (I swear this is true!) ran into Pendo Muganda and Jenny Karumuna while shopping on Fifth Ave. Right there and then, we held our own little reunion. Kyle Fehr lived in NYC for a year too and fed us all well while he was here. Sayako Wada and I are still fast friends, visiting each other from time to time in Japan and NYC. Hoping to attend her wedding in Hawaii this August. Tere (Moore) Tritt and I stood up for each other in our weddings and Michelle (Moser) Gray and I talk regularly. Mega-model Jihae Kim lived with me for about 2 months after she first moved here. Jolly and I also crossed paths with Doug Kittridge, sporting a fabulous blue hairdo in the East Village.

My current stats are married (1 year), no kids (nor current plans), working in the technology and design industries in a sales capacity. My husband, Bill, and I were set up by our grandmothers when I was quasi-engaged to a creepy Wheaton guy who my grandmother hated.

I'll spread the joy of the knowledge of this page to all of those named above in hopes we can all get better in touch. By the way, Becky, is there any way I could submit some photos of my fellow alumni and our post-BL adventures?

I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in May, 1998. I'm spending the summer working at Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Assoc. (a conservative political consulting firm in Alexandria, VA). In the fall, I'll be starting Law School at Duke University.

What's happened to the rest of the class of '93?

BL Rocks Forever. I Love e-mail and I love stories about BL's history. I think Miss Long is awesome and Mr. White is spiffy too. Mrs. Hathaway left and the food hasn't been the same since. GO FALCONS

I am currently attending Taylor U, majoring in math education (partially inspired by Mr. White). Ben Lippen was used by God in my life to bring me to himself and I owe it a debt I could never repay.

Ji-Eon (John) Kim, Class of 1997 <>
Greenville, SC, USA

I'm currently studying at Furman University and thinking about majoring in Biochemistry (pre-Med).
I have about 30 e-mail addresses of BL teachers and alumni (mostly from the class of '96-'98) so if you want to have them, please e-mail me at
Likewise, if you have any e-mail addresses of students from the same "era," please tell me.
I must say I enjoyed BL a lot, especially my last year in the resident program. I also enjoyed playing varsity baseball with Mr Young as head coach.
Special thanks to Mr Young, Mrs Lindsey, Mr Hess, and Mr White.
Also to my resident buddies from the class of '97 Dennis Drake, George Barghout, Paul Stancik, Michael Rogers, Caleb Downing, Marcello Yoo, and Jeremy Frank.

Huh. I assume this places me in the rank and file of all Ben Lippen computer nerds.

Alas, like insanity, I suppose it will be a short walk.

Howdy. Well, I was part of the first class to go all 4 years
of high school at BL in Columbia. Seems like so long ago,
and yet the memories still are fresh.

I graduated this past December from The University of South
Carolina with a degree in advertising.

I'm now working at Disney World while I look for a "real" job.
